Before you build your new website, it’s important to research different web platforms to learn what platform is going to be the best for your business. Each website builder has its own strengths, but some platforms have more strengths than others.
At 253 Media, we typically prefer WebFlow for building high-performance websites for businesses who are not selling any products online. (If you are selling products online, check out our article about Shopify!)
In this article, learn exactly why we like Webflow and why Webflow could be a great fit for your business!
One of the primary reasons that we like to use Webflow is because we have total design control. Every site we create is built from a completely blank canvas. No templates, no themes… 100% custom.
Why is this important?
Your business is unique so your website should be unique too! Since Webflow doesn’t require a theme or template, we are able to create a completely custom solution to fit your needs. This level of customization also allows us to build a fully branded website that showcases your products or services exactly how you want.
In addition, being able to have total control over the design and flow of information allows us to control how your information is presented to potential customers then we can create a strong and easy to use call to action.
Webflow’s Content Management System (CMS) is AWESOME. The ability to quickly and easily add in new blogs, portfolio items, services, etc… is incredibly handy, especially for people who don’t know much about websites. Let’s illustrate the power of Webflow’s CMS with an example.
Let’s say you run a brewery and you currently offer three types of beer. On your website, you have a beer overview page and then each beer has its own page to give customers more information.
Once the CMS, overview page, and individual pages are designed, adding in a fourth beer to the overview page and list of unique beer pages only takes a minute or two. When you go to add in the new beer, all you need to do is add in the appropriate text and imagery to the CMS view and BOOM! The overview page gets updated and the new beer page is automatically created. Pretty cool, right?
While a lot of other website building platforms require plugins for added functionality, Webflow is an all-inclusive platform. With Webflow, you won’t be bothered or worried about plugins being outdated and needing updates.
Sometimes, when plugins aren’t updated, they can cause functionality problems on the website without you even knowing! Plus, adding a ton of plugins to your site can actually reduce the site speed and overall user experience.
The other nice thing about not using plugins on Webflow is the customer service. If you have an issue on Webflow, you can simply reach out to Webflow’s customer service team (they are super helpful!) to solve your problems. On website builders that need plugins, you’re left at the mercy of the plugin developers if you ever run into problems. Sometimes they are responsive, however, sometimes they are aren’t/
The majority of web traffic is coming from mobile devices now so having a sleek and mobile-friendly website is crucial. In fact, 52.9% of all web traffic is mobile (Statista). And this doesn’t even include tablets!
Webflow not only makes it easy to create a beautiful mobile site, but you can also create a custom view for tablets and oversized monitors. This means that no matter how your customers are learning about your business, you can give them an amazing experience that fits their devices.
To take this a step further, Webflow also makes it possible to have different elements on different views. For example, if you want to have certain interactions (like swiping on a photo) on mobile, but not on desktop, you can do that!
One of the most common questions we get asked is, “What hosting do you use?” Luckily, Webflow makes hosting super easy! The standard Webflow site plan (only $20/mo or $192/year) includes Tier 1 Cloudfront Hosting, which is the same hosting that big companies like Adobe, Amazon, Dropbox, and MTV use. If it’s good enough for those guys, it’s good enough for us!
One of the nice things about using Webflow’s native hosting is that you won’t need to export any code when making updates. With some platforms, you actually need to export the code and have the website code hosted elsewhere. With Webflow, there’s no need to export code or anything like that! It’s a true all-in-one platform.
